HISTORY: Pastor David Brown started STORM Camp in 1991 in order to reach Hubbard and Sebeka counties in a very practical way. What started out as a handful of students meeting for a week to serve this community during the day and worship at night has turned into an annual event of over 100 7th-12th grade students and adults.
PURPOSE: STORM Camp's motto is "serving Jesus by serving others". It embodies the true heart of what worship is: Bowing and serving. This manifests itself at STORM Camp through serving the community and celebrating what God has done by bowing to Him in song, hearing testimonies from his people, and learning from His Word. Every year students come back changed in some way by opening themselves to God through these elements.
STRUCTURE: Once at camp, our individual church boundaries disappear. Each student is divided into a group OF six people- 5 students and 1 adult. This is your TIM (Teams In Mission) Group for the week . These are the people with whom you will serve and worship everyday. Each TIM Group belongs to a "Major Group", which consists of 3-5 TIM Groups. You will also spend some time with your "Major Group" each morning. You may have up to 2 or 3 people from our church in your Major Group, but more than likely no one from our church will be in your TIM group. This allows for a whole new experience of serving with different people and learning the beauty of the true connectedness of the larger Body of Christ. We will, however, spend some intentional and significant time as a youth group throughout the week in order to process, share and pray.
CHAPEL: Every night the entire camp gets together for Chapel, which consists of worship, testimonies and teaching. The worship is contemporary in style and led by Paul Baudhuin with a full band. Then students are given time to share with the whole camp about what God has done in and through them during camp. And the teaching is done by Pastor David Brown, who delivers a powerful, applicable and theologically sound message each night .
